MySQL 5.1 No Longer Supported

MySQL 5.1 No Longer Supported

Last year, Oracle announced they will stop supporting Mysql 5.1 at the end of 2013.

To facilitate migration from MySQL 5.1 to 5.5 or 5.6, cPanel (the current control panel) will continue to support MySQL 5.1 being supporting through the life of cPanel & WHM software version 11.42. However, we will plan to upgrade all the servers to 5.5 or 5.6 as soon as possible to ensure security and support for the server itself.

Timing:

Beginning with cPanel 11.44, upgrades will require MySQL 5.5 or higher. cPanel expects to release this version in May or June of 2014.

We do not have an ETA for updating to the latest version, but will notify you when we will be proceeding in the future.

Next Steps:

Please take this as an early notice to check all your installed scripts that use MySQL on your website and check with the scripts developers/support about the supported MySQL version.

If you would like us to perform an evaluation of your website to determine the compatibility of your current website with the new MySQL version, we are available to assist you. We are offering a one-time evaluation of your website and scripts installed to confirm whether your site would need to be updated or no further action is required. This evaluation does not include any fixes to your website, only determines the compatibility.

This evaluation is available to our hosting clients for $50 per website / hosting account. If updates are required, we can provide you with a cost estimate to fix the necessary code on your website. The evaluation fee will be credited toward the total amount of the updating project if you wish to proceed with us.

Note that once we upgrade MySQL to the new version, any issues that arise that are due to incompatibilities are not the responsibility of Modern Leaf Design to correct under warranty.
